psprigs 0 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi, i have a computar h16z7516amsp 7.5-120 tv zoom lense and a VT g06z12 lense both have atleast 4 wires, reg/yellow/green and black, i know its for zoom and focus and i can more the lenses with 9 volts, both have auto iris cables plugged into the camera, what i was wondering how to control the lenses, is there a converter from rs485 to this lense? Sorry for being bit thick, the best way to learn how it all works is to buy things and stuggle then you tend to go through most of the common problems and have to ask or search to find the solution. bike_rider 0 Posted January 22, 2010 22 people have looked and not 1 person seems to take the time to answer, which is no doubt a simple question.... OR 22 people have never seen this lens and have no idea. OR 22 people are busy and are in no rush to answer a question that you could answer with a little google work. Google knows the answers to ALL simple questions; if you can't find it with Google, it isn't a simple question. Computar technical manual: http://computarganz.com/misc/Computar_Lens_Tech_0208.pdf Simple motor control. IF there is a way to make this work with an RS-484 signal it would involve some kind of specialized converter. Such a thing might exist, but I doubt it. Too niche. hardwired 0 Posted January 22, 2010 What you are looking for is a PTZ receiver (I know, you are only talking about controlling the lens, not necessarily a pan/tilt mechanism, but they are almost always combined, since a zoom lens without pan/tilt capability is pretty limited). Several manufacturers make items of this type, the Pelco one here is one example http://www.pelco.com/global/en/products/camera-solutions/range-presentation.page?p_function_id=9510&p_family_id=10231&p_range_id=2926# I've also seen quite a few on everyone's favorite, E-Bay... You'll need a controller, too, either a joystick, or a DVR with RS422/RS485 data out to control it (Pelco P/D formats are the most universal, you might look for that to start) *******Edit******* Your second response is not necessarily the best way to get more help here.. I'm going to chalk it up to frustration, but some here may not be quite as friendly......
