Camera that can withstand 400 degree temps

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a camera or enclosure that can be put into an oven to watch a conveyor of parts that have been painted/powder coated? I have a customer requesting a way to see if the line gets jambed up in a 200ft long oven at 350°

You might look at liquid cooled enclosures. Here are a couple of links:

http://www.almexltd.com/ssh168lc.htm - "Environmental temperatures of up to 750 deg. F (400 deg. C) are handled by housing cooling system and camera compartment will stay at safe temperatures of below 110-120 F (45 C)."

There are others. Do a web search for "liquid cooled cctv camera".

I'd install one or more observation windows and use regular cameras.

If he just wants an indication of a jam without actually seeing what caused it then...

He could also use a counting feature with a camera on each end of the belt. When the count on the camera covering the exit is not what it should be (calculated by using the incoming count less the number of product on the belt in the oven at any given moment... or however you would do it), you have a problem. I assume this method could be used to trigger an alarm and/or shut down the belt. Probably much more reliable than having an employee staring at a monitor for long periods of time.
