Help setting up a sanyo camera..

Recommended Posts

I'm setting up a cctv system on my property and was given a couple older Sanyo VCC-3964 cameras to use. I'm having trouble getting them to work, I'm using the lenses that came with them (Cosmicar/Pentax TV lens HX). I'm not getting a picture, it seems that the camera is not opening the iris. I can get color/video when I remove the lens exposing the CCD but when the lens is attached it's dark (same thing on both cameras). I'm using the same lens to test the cameras, I know the lens is good as it works fine on a different sanyo camera. It appears the switches are set properly under the side panel but I can't find a users manual for this camera so I'm not positive.

Here's what I've got for settings:

The video/DC switch on the right is set to Video

The EI/Off/BLC switch is set to Off

The WB A/M switch is set to A

Then there is a dip switch block with 4 switches all the way to the left all set to off (I think these are for setting a shutter speed)

The only thing other than that is a small unlabeled switch under the cover on the other side and another one under the top cover.

The camera is external sync capable with VBS in on the back which I'm not using for my system.

Any suggestions to get this camera to operate the lens iris (I'm guessing that's the problem)?

I couldn't find much info on that lens, does it have two adjustment potentiometers on the side marked something like level and ALC? if so, it is a video drive lens, try changing the level settings on the lens.

If not, chance the video/DC switch to the DC position and try adjusting the iris level on the camera (should be a screw-type adjustment on the cam)

The lens does have LEVEL and ALC controls on it, so I'm pretty sure it's a video drive lens. I tried adjusting the pots on the lens but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I point the camera at a window with bright sun light I can see the window, so I'm still thinking the iris isn't opening up... Both these cameras do the same thing when I tried a couple different lenses on them.
