gannet 0 Posted January 27, 2010 hello there i don't know whether i can do this but i will ask i have a pc fitted with a dvr card with four cameras its a super card excellent pictures and it records to hdd it will record files 24hrs a day in separate 1hourly files and i can play back everything on the dvr player that is part of the software, what i would like to know is there a piece of software that will convert .dvr files so i can burn to dvd or even just to play on a pc dvd player for police evidence if needed, this pc is solely used for dvd and nothing else and is fitted with a 500gb hd for long continuous recording, many thank peter
mateck8888 0 Posted January 28, 2010 Most all DVRs would have an export feature to export it to an .avi. But, if they failed to put that basic feature on it (which is like building a Corvette, but forgetting to put a steering wheel on it) than a work around is to use a screen capture utility. Check out download.com. There are many options, some of them free. I do this often for my local law enforcement, when they come in with some weird file with a junkie player that no one wants anything to do with. The capture utility can write it to an .avi, then you can put that into a video editor and make a DVD. The quality actually holds out. Matt
