bpzle 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Hello! Welcome! Often time big suppliers (Anixter, ADI, Northern, etc) hold training seminars, but their usually skewed towards what ever manufacturer is hosting them. This forum helps out a lot. Lot of info on here and a lot of really intelligent helpful people. I'm not familiar with any formal classes at colleges or trade schools, as I haven't taken any... But a background in electronics and computers helps out A LOT. What will probably help you out most if your wanting to get in this field is to find someone with many years experience that is willing to let you work by their side. It's like most fields, you usually end up being the grunt gopher at first until your ready to walk on your own.

In the UK one of the formal training organisations that specialises in CCTV is Tavcom. All of my engineers follow a formal training scheme as we believe that this is in the best interests of the client and the industry as a whole. I believe that they are now launching distance learning options. Check out the web site. Hope this helps Ilkie
Dirk_D 0 Posted December 18, 2010 look up ISC East - there is an enormous networking potential there, as well as classes offered. I've gone to ISC West for the last several years - there are all kinds of exhibitors showcasing everything under the sun. Check it out. I haven't taken any of their classes but I bet it'd be fun.
