problems/questions for the AVC760Z

Hi folkx,

today i got a "second-hand" AVC760Z ..

i got it to work , so far the good news ,

but:

i found a very old firmware on it, and i was not able, to find a newer one here (scorpion s links are offline =( ), anyone here, wo can send me the newest version?

 

another question is, is it possible, to see a list of taken videos and view them (on the pc) without downloading them all? (i saw an option for that in the "Video Viewer" but -maybe it corresponds with the too old firmware- i was not able, to take a look at any video.. it would be great, to be able to connect via ftp with the box or sth like that *dreaming* ..

Does your DVR have an IDE hard drive, or a SATA hard drive?

 

I would suggest that you do not upgrade your firmware!

 

1. There are different chips sets, and you may have to line up the right firmware to the chipsets in your DVR.

2. You will not notice any difference in performance for the most part.

 

3. If your DVR is having problems for the most part a firmware may not correct it. Your DVR should be in good working order prior to any firmware updates.

 

My firmware is password protected.

 

If you do a firmware update, and something goes wrong do not do a HARDWARE RESET under any circumstances!

 

If you down load the wrong firmware then try to reload the original. This will require you to save this version prior to any updates.

 

When all else fails you may have to pull the firmware chip, and install another chip, and then reload the propler firmware.

The DVR is Linux based. How well do you know Linux coding?

 

The DVR does not have PC connections. You can connect via LAN, and download video.

 

If you remove the hard drive, and install it in a PC then you will have no access to video. You will need to write your own program to emulate how the DVR works.

 

All you can do is read the file as in off line hard drive.

 

Mirror your drive with Acronis, or Ghost if you start to manipulate the data on the hard drive if it is important to you.

 

Do not fomat the DVR hard drive. These DVRs use hard drives straight out of the HD package without any PC formatting.

 

What version of Video Viewer are you using?

 

If your DVR has an IDE hard drive then the native viewer is Video Server E, but Video Viewer (created for H.264) is backwards compatable with the MPEG version (SATA), and the JPEG (IDE) versions.

(i ve the IDE-version, without any USB-Ports on the back)

my biggest problem atm is, that i m not possible to get ANY video from the DVR .. i tried the Video Server E, which works without any problems , but i m not able to get any video down to my pc ..

weather through the webface, nor the Video Server E allows me to download any video ..

 

 

any tipps what i can try ?

I thought you had a simple problem of just getting to download video.

 

Now I believe that you are having problems connecting to the DVR?

 

Can you ping the DVR?

 

Do you see live video on your PC?

hi,

 

yes, i can ping the dvr and i can go in the webinterface (and see the livestream).

furthermore i m able to connect me to the dvr using the Video Server E (and watch live-stream, change configs, watch recorded scenes,..)

 

i just want to download some scenes (which conforms some criteria) on my pc, so that i can pass them to other people (/police/archive it).

 

when you need more infos about the DVR, i will open it and tell you details about chipset and other stuff you need.

I am thinking that you may have issues with just the player involved.

 

What we need to do is to find a version that works, and then use that player, and embed it in to the version that you have now.

 

I wonder if you can try the video server E and see if that will work.

 

If it does then I would take this playback, and put it in to the files of your video viewer.

 

You will have to give the police this version of the playback.

 

The playback is a standalone software, and does not need video server e as a whole to work.

 

You can give the police the files, and the playback, and they should be good to go.

 

For you we just need to install the player in to your version of Video Viewer.

hey,

i m back again .. i think, that my problem is not clear yet ...

so thats, where i am at the moment:

i can connect to the avc , i can see (in "video viewer" + "video server E") the live stream and do nearly "every-thing" (config the avc, "play" with the osd..)

 

but:

i can not view the "in programm built in "event-lists".. this lists i can only see in the osd, but than i can not download the playback .

furthermore (maybe, this is a [for me] hidden hint on the fault) i am not able to backup the firmware (in video-viewer).

it is also crazy, that i cant see any message (exept "logout", "login" in the log, although i fired some motion-alerts) in the viewer-"event-list" (i font know the exact word in english, it is the symbol in the bottom-right of the video-viewer config).

i can not always see in the aviable channels in the backup-menu. the dropdown is empty, until i clicked a while on any button (most times the refresh-button), than the aviable chanels are shown.. but when i try to download the playback in this menu, i just get the error-message, that the disk would be full (but there is enough space to save the whole avr-disk ...).

 

i hope, that you can solve my problem (when u need some screens, i ll submit the requested ones).

search for backup function.select the channel and time you want to back up.
