tomdlgns 0 Posted March 1, 2010 it happens random, but i see this message pop up. my only option is OK, but the box goes away on its own. No new entry will be added to the system log file if the storage capacity of the system log file is lower than the requirement. our company has about 12-15 DVRs out in various locations. this started happening to two DVRs at different times within the past month. the computers are on 24/7 with battery backups and i have checked the log files, event viewer and even the nic card connection time...power never went out or even flickered off. video files still seem to record w/o any issues. i randomly picked files to view under playback and they play fine. this is what i have tried before making this thread. reboot the PCs delete all the video files in the store folder run the db repair utility. also, all video files are stored on a second hard drive in the system. i already checked the log file store location and it is set to recycle (check in the box) and the number of days option is NOT checked. any help is appreciated. thanks. Jong 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Your system log file is normally (default) on drive c: under the folder of GV600 (for example) . This is different from the folder of the video files. It means that your drive C: might be already full or have only little space left for the system to store the log files. One way is to delete some files not needed in drive c: One can try to change the location of the system log file to another partition where there is enough space. System log file can be found under Configure, System log setting, Set location (for Version 8.32) Hope this helps.

Thanks.
tomdlgns 0 Posted March 1, 2010 i am looking at a DVR with 8.01 software. not sure where to change it here. the only thing i can see to change is the video log. i suppose since this was the only field i could actually change to a location other than the c:, i thought it was for the log file as well. if anyone knows how to change it in 8.01 i would appreciate the help. my c drive is 96GB in size and i only have 495 remaining (all video storage records to my 500GB or 1TB drive, not sure which one is in the system off hand, which is F: in this environment), so yes, something is recording to the c: but i only knew of one area to change it in under GeoVision. rory 0 Posted March 1, 2010 As mentioned system log should just be on the C drive (or you could crate a small partition just for the logs and restoring for example using a bootagent to select a drive and restore an image, and do even more but for the sake of this issue will keep to the basics) Stop all recording and exit Enable Recycle Bin of 1% on C Drive. Disable Recycle Bin on other drives. Disable Hibernation Completely. Disable System Restore Completely Disable Updates of ANY kind Resize Page File/Check - make it same min and max, use the max/recommended size for both Download and Run Windows Cleanup! http://www.tucows.com/preview/405276 Defrag. Move system log to the C drive, check the C drive for any install files/folders, etc. Make sure you are not recording to the C drive. You should have tons of space on C as XP takes up very little itself and Geo is not that large either. Basically you will need to make sure you have enough space for 1% of the hard drive which will be the recycle bin, though it wont be that size to begin with that is how large it could get, unlikely though in this type of system, also the page file takes up space, but even so you should have perhaps 85-90Gb free space on C with a 96GB (100GB?) drive, default XP alone only takes up 700-900 MB (not including page file, etc, varies in size depending on XP installed drivers etc). You should be a ble to change it under the log settings section .. I dont have a geo here to be able to say where exactly it is but its there somewhere with the other log settings. Optionally you can open C:\Windows\GeoMulti.ini and change the log folder there.

Its been a while but I dont think that logentry is the recording. . but I could be wrong. Also, what folder did you set for recording? history1 doesnt sound like something to be used for video. I dont have a complete multi.ini file here to reference and I would need to go digging through external drives and my code for one from before ..
rory 0 Posted March 2, 2010 this is from 8.1, should be similar in 8.01 Note: the System Log Setting menu item

tomdlgns 0 Posted March 2, 2010 here is the my computer history cam01 contents of cam01 in detail view to show that it is still recording to the f: even with the error. i only have 2 days worth of data because i deleted the contents of the history folder yesterday thinking it would fix the error. i didnt need any of the video, so the loss of video files was not an issue. Id have to check where that is located in the INI files or registry but you can change it right from the menu as in the sample image I posted. Just make sure C is clean and there is enough room on it for the system drive to exist there. From previous post you said there was only 495mb of space left? rory 0 Posted March 2, 2010 It seems the system log is located in the MDB folder (database) , in the main access database file in geoMulti.ini [MDB] Location=C:\MultiCam\
