iphone cctv help

Recommended Posts

Hi all, so I have a cctv system, they are ip cameras, and they are linked into my NVR and then connected into my network and PC.

Now do I need a static IP address for my router and then set up a channel in my firewall to allow my iphone to connect through and look at my cctv?

if anyone has ANY clue how this works, please PLEASE, tell me

I found one cctv website with information but it's actually not helping me with my iphone,

Can anybody else suggest any links to any place that knows how to do it?

Thanks

Tom. this is not a good idea. not only will you be monitoring your system but others will also. never give your ip to a 3rd party viewing company

Firstly, you require to have a local static IP Address.

Secondly, you need to forward the port to this local static IP Address.

Thirdly, if network is dynamic IP, then you will have to configure DDNS service (registered with www.dyndns.org).

three things you can do:

- Give the camera public IP address

- Setup a VPN on the computer that is there (if its running 24/7)

- Open VPN (the best and most secured)

If you dont know much about OpenVPN and not much of a technical guy then you are stuck with the other two options. The easiest would be to setup a VPN connection on the PC and just log into it from your iphone. There is a Axis Cams app thats about $6 and ive been able to connect to Axis / IQEye / Arecont cams on it.
