irishcrows 0 Posted March 9, 2010 Hi DOes anybody know if Geovision allows for autoscan? I have 2 Pelco dome cameras and 1 GC-1480 card. PTZ control works fine on the server, in DMMultiview and over the web. I have tried to configure the cameras to autoscan but with no success. My reseller said all I could do was set a bunch of preset points and have the cameras tour through them, then back to preset 1. He caliamed the autoscan had to be configured on the cameras itself. Does this sound right? Thanks Michael
Soundy 1 Posted March 11, 2010 Yes. "Autoscan" on some (many? most?) cameras means simply setting a start point, an end point, and a scan speed, and the camera then cycles between those points at the defined rate. At least, this is the case with the Capture and Pelco PTZs I've worked with. Your two other options are typically called "Tours" (where you define a number of preset positions, then have the camera step from one to the next), and "Patterns", where you set the camera or DVR into a "record" mode, and drive the camera through the pattern you want (left, right, up, down, zoom in, zoom out, pause, etc.). From my experience, most better cameras support these two functions internally, but I've more often set it up within the DVR.
irishcrows 0 Posted March 18, 2010 Further to this, I was able to set the autoscan from within the camera, but I then lost all control of the camera from the softweare. I was able to get into to the menu of the camera through the GeoVision software. I can use the U and D keys to navigate. However, ENTER (iris open) has no effect. Is this specific to certain cameras, i.e. I need to use another key instead? I then configured the cameras through the software to tour through 16 presets, and could probably refine it to 64. Not ideal, but it works. While I can regain control of the camera on the server, I can no longer do so using webcam/DMMultiview. I get a message "no PTZ device available. Any ideas? Thanbks Michael
Soundy 1 Posted March 18, 2010 The Capture and Pelco cams I've dealt with, once they're on an Autoscan program, need a slight directional "nudge" to break out of the autoscan and enable control again. Give it a slight up or down "tap" and the autoscan should stop... then see if the other commands work.

Thanbks Michael Did you check or remember to activate the "Allowed PTZ Cameras" under the "Video" tab of the Webserver setup? If not, they won't be visible over the web.
