fizi 0 Posted March 10, 2010 Hello, I've got some GV-600 and 800 cards we purchased from a local retailer. We had one of our security camera PCs crash and I had to replace the hard drive and re-install Windows. When I tried to local a serial number for our GeoVision cards I was told by my employer they were never given boxes or manuals for any of the hardware they purchased. I found a copy of GeoVision 8.3 online from what appeared to be a legit security camera site/community. I used that version of GeoVision on our fresh hard drive. When I launch the software all the camera's show a black screen for a few seconds and then go to 'Signal Lost'. Based on my reading of these forums that probably means I've got fake cards. I haven't had chance to look at our remaining PC's but I'm betting they are using GeoVision v7 which I've read works with some of the fake cards. So my question to you guys. Does it sound like I've got fake cards based on the symptoms I have? Here are pictures of the card. Front: http://img706.imageshack.us/i/gv800front.jpg/ Back: http://img710.imageshack.us/i/gv800back.jpg/ The lack of a serial number sorta tipped me off the cards might be fake. I've read there should be one on the back of the card. I also don't see GeoVision anywhere on these cards just the model number 650/800 v3.31. The other card I've physically looked at says 'GV-600' on it but has the exact same problem with the picture.
fizi 0 Posted March 10, 2010 Just an update. GeoVision has confirmed the card pictured is a fake. Anyone know if GeoVision's software licenses allows their older (v6 or v7) software to be used with these fakes?
