ky1969 0 Posted March 16, 2010 As everyone can tell I am truely an amature so here's my ridiculus question. If I'm trying to control a American Dynamics RAS916LS camera, do I have to use a DVR?
Soundy 1 Posted March 16, 2010 Depends what you mean by "control" but if you're talking about pan/tilt/zoom controls, then no, you don't need a DVR; you just need an appropriate controller - joystick type, keyboard type, or just a computer with the appropriate software. ky1969 0 Posted March 17, 2010 First off thanks for the info, yes I was talking about pan, tilt, & zooming. I have a American Dynamics RAS916LS without a controller, I found a cheap IR remote controller from a Chinese retailer on eBay. The ad says it's used for controlling RS-485 signal, & it supports full function pelco-p & pelco-d protocol. After I hooked it up, and it did it's inital power up routine I had no control, I'm not sure what address to put the camera on, basically I'm stuck.
bpzle 0 Posted March 22, 2010 You need to make sure the controller is set for Pelco P and that the camera and controller are set to the same ID number.
