pelco vs panasonic protocol-rs485

whats the advantages of panasonic to pelco protocol?

i have a wv-cs850 and a wv-cs854 ptz camera set as camera 1 and 2 both on panasonic protocol, but i can only configure camera 1 because the only free software i can find (zmx)is hard coded to unit 1,there is heaps of free software out there for pelco,and apparently, those cameras can be set for pelco,

if i set camera 2 to pelco,what will the difference in the settings be?
