dvrtiger 0 Posted March 22, 2010 I have a problem with CPD 577W unit. Everything works fine, but after several days it locks it self in record mode and I'm unable to enter menu. Even when I stop recording mode, when I press menu key, it starts recording again without entering into the menu! If someone could help me, I would appreciate it. scorpion 0 Posted March 23, 2010 Being the pro that you are I will not dare say do a hard ware reset! I am sure you have done the reset. I am confused as to why it would be doing that. I am thinking of a bad power pack that is leaking ac. Perhaps try freeze spray on the chips to see if it is overheating. Have you check all of the oscillators on the board. One might be out of freq. It may work for a time, and then drift perhaps. What do you think?
dvrtiger 0 Posted March 24, 2010 Hi, scorpion, long time no see How are you, and how is the weather back there? (it's raining non stop over here ) I've tried all of your sugestions but without luck, so it's still a mistery to me. Anyway, my boss didn't have any scruples to sell it as a used one 'in mint condition' ! I know, terrible
scorpion 0 Posted March 24, 2010 To us Floridians we have been hating life as we have constant winter weather (to our standard), or it is overcast and cloudy. This is the most weird winter we have ever had in a very long time. I find it funny that they cannot get snow at the olympics, and other places wish they could get rid of the snow, and here it is in mid March, and we still do not have "florida sunshine". I believe even the Canadian tourist are mad at our weather! I wish you could have kept that DVR around. It would have been fun to track that bug down. I had a DVR that was manufactured in 2005, or so that had a weird problem. We torched the chips and would you believe it started running again? Strange! I guess the DVR overheated, and the solder inside the chip melted, and we just reflowed it or something!
dvrtiger 0 Posted March 24, 2010 Oh, I know exactly what do you mean about strange winter...especially because the part of my country in which I live is 'Croatian Florida' (Dalmatia) Hm, I had a similar problem in our service shop-one DVR refused all my atempts to power it self up-until it 'fell' of from table! Scruit 0 Posted March 29, 2010 Does it saw M in the top right? Is it set to motion record? If so, and there is motion, then it is likely switching back to motion record between the time you press stop and menu. Try pressing stop then menu very quickly (works best at the dvr, not on remote). You may need to do it a few times until you get it. Failing that, identify the camera that has the motion and either unplug it or cover the camera. This should give you time to press stop then press menu before it switches back to motion record. (Another of those CPCam idiosyncrasies)
