Todd 0 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm having a problem with recorded files looking terrible. For example, real time video looks great. A carpet mat on a white tile floor has a nice clean edge. When I view the same carpet mat with a recorded video, the mat has jaged edges. Almost like a stair case. I think I've got everything set to record at the highest settings (720X480 deinterlace) and i'm using h264 for compression. Suggestions? I have to be missing something. I have 2 complete systems and they both do the exact same thing.
Harrar 0 Posted March 25, 2010 What version software are you running? Sorry about asking the obvious but you set your Video Source to 720x480, did you set your recording quality higher and select the higher resolution for each camera in system configuration/cameras? How about trying Geo H264 V2 codec? Had pretty good luck with it in some instances. For the really brave (or foolish) you can try the Geo MPEG ASP and adjust it yourself. Todd 0 Posted March 26, 2010 I'm running 8.3.2 and 8.3.3 I've tried the h264v2 same result. "did you set your recording quality higher and select the higher resolution for each camera in system configuration/cameras? How about trying Geo H264 V2 codec?" This has me confused? Is there a secondary area I need to set for recording quality. In the configurations section I have it on level 5 or highest quality. The playback looks much more pixelated and jagged than my old geo 1000.
Harrar 0 Posted March 26, 2010 In the System Configuration/Camera Settings tab to the right of the slider where you set level 5 there's an icon, a green arrow I think, for recording resolution. Click on it and and see if it's set to default (320x240). Change to 720x480 and give it a try. Can't remember if this is one of the settings that require you to restart Geo but as a rule I usually do when making changes to General Setting and Camera tabs just to make sure they took. Todd 0 Posted March 26, 2010 I had that one set to 720 X 480. Good call though. I had to look to see what I had done. This is just really weird. I've got two systems and they both do the same thing. I've got 3 more that are being put together as we speak to send out to friends but I really want to find the answer. I'm using onboard graphics with one (H55 chipset and I5 530 intel) and the other one is a q6600 with a Nvidia gforce 210 vid card.
Todd 0 Posted March 27, 2010 I got it fixed. Kind of noobish. I thought 720X480 Deinterlace was better than just plain 720 X 480. Turns out that has been the issue. Once I got rid of the deinterlace all is good!
