thewireguys 3 Posted March 31, 2010 I get my stuff from newegg but now they are charging $189.00 for a copy of XP Pro. Last week it was $159.00 what a joke FU Microsoft. Anyone know where we can get better pricing?
rory 0 Posted March 31, 2010 yeah that is ridiculous. Here is the Home Edition .. could make it work? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Recs=10&Nav=|c:672|&Sort=4 I cant vouch for these .. many sites like this look alike, but they do have an address? http://www.discountcomputersurplus.com/software.html maybe get the SP3 then just buy a used one (legalities?) to get the legal serial? (retail only perhaps) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018RCAD4/ref=nosim?tag=windowsreinstall&linkCode=sb1&camp=212353&creative=380549 If you can get a legit SP2 new or used then that would work also, if you must have SP3 then slipstream SP3 and critical updates into it .. need info on how to do that let me know. Same goes for an SP1, would need to slip SP2 then SP3. Note some of the updates after SP3 can cause issues. I will keep looking ... if its for an NVR .. no hardware drivers needed ... have you looked at linux with Wine?
thewireguys 3 Posted March 31, 2010 I use it for my Exacq NVRs because I use Teamviewer and it doesn't work with linux yet but as soon as it does I am done with Windows for my Exacq installs.

CCTV_Suppliers 0 Posted April 1, 2010 This version of WINE is very stable... Doing a great job riding on most Linux platforms... some setup issues, but nothing major... Ubuntu and Suse are actually few of the major supporters.
thewireguys 3 Posted April 15, 2010 Teamviewer now supports Linux
