i get swarms of insects setting off MD at night,they must sense the heat or IR light,anyone have any ideas on how to keep insects away??

you could always put a sign up there is not much you can do if the camera has ir built in. you will be better installing another ir away from the camera.

Separate illuminators are virtually always superior to integrated IR. Not only do you have a MUCH wider selection of strengths, angles, types... but you completely avoid the bug problem.
