splicing of UTP

I am looking for anyone that has had experience running cat5e UTP and splicing it to combine four single UTP runs down one single cat5e?

I have been doing this without the use of patch blocks, I just make a fine twist and cut it very short, heat shrink it, box the connection and it seems to work well, do you think I have been losing video quality using this method?

Is there a better way of doing this?

I've done it with beanie crimps (both standard and gel-filled), standard butt crimps, solder-and-heat-shrink, 110 patchbay blocks, BIX blocks, and just about every other method you could think of, with no noticeable effect on quality. Plain and simple, if you have a clean, solid electrical connection, you should have no problem.

As a phone-dummy myself I a fan of the bean connectors. Easy to terminate, and easy to re-terminate. Personally I always use grease filled.
