RJMNYC 0 Posted April 13, 2010 I plan to purchase 6 IP cameras and I need a DVR to record the video. Budget is about $1500 for the DVR. Which are the better models? I want alerting, ability to view over the Internet, and basically a reasonably robust set of features and good support. Another thing I need it to do is display the video on a 55" flat screen. I have seen the DIGINET logo displayed on large security monitors here in New York in at least 4 different stores but I am not sure if it is a standalone product or if it requires a pc or server. Thanks in advance
thewireguys 3 Posted April 14, 2010 A 8 channel H.264 network DVR is fit for you Suky go away and stop giving false information. RJNMYC - What manufactures IP cameras did you get? We need to know this before we can recommend recording solution. Also you will need a hybrid DVR or a NVR for the IP cameras a standard DVR is for analog cameras only. Soundy 1 Posted April 14, 2010 Agreed, it will depend somewhat on the cameras you have and what DVRs or NVRs support them. Some cameras can write directly to network storage, no DVR required. That said, you could look at a Vigil NVR (see link in my sig); it will handle a wide range of network cameras (including generic HTTP support, if you know the camera's parameters) and falls within your budget. Being PC-based, you can easily drive your large screen through VGA or DVI.
