Luxor JPEG2000 16ch DVR spot monitor output

I have the Luxor JPEG2000 16ch DVR. For the most part, it has been a marginally OK DVR.

 

This device has a "Spot" monitor output. This output is supposed to cycle through the inputs in a round robin fashion. When motion is detected, that camera is supposed to be presented for a duration set in the menu's (default 3 seconds).

 

This does not work.

 

I contacted the vendor, Closeout CCTV (Houston, TX) and they tell me this is a known bug, and there is nothing they will do about it.

 

Are they correct? Did Luxor really never fix this bug?

 

This is the second generation of these boxes I have had problems with. Both units have been defective in one way or the other, with so far, no solution.

 

Are there really no firmware upgrades available?

Big red flag and a sign of things to come. Their problems shouldn't be yours. That's basic customer service. Too late to return it??

I guess they did not sell enough of these to have the manufacturer fix the bugs.

 

I seem to be the only person in the world that has one.

Iv'e installed 4 of them. They are cheap. for a reason. Iv had to return two of those for manufacture defects.

Thanks for the reply. As an individual, it's really hard to decide which box to buy.

 

I'd like to replace it, but I don't know which unit to go with.
