DataAve 0 Posted April 28, 2005 But standalone feel. Nothing pc looking about the 4000 and 8000 models.
rory 0 Posted April 28, 2005 you can build your own probably for a lot cheaper, remote control comes with PC cards, and those cases are nothing special. To be considered non PC or a stand alone, would require some buttons on the DVR, you know, look like a DVR, not look like a PC I can pick up from Tiger Direct Anyway, what Card do they use? Im not saying dont buy, let us know how it works, and get some screen shots ..
rss 0 Posted April 28, 2005 I just installed a 12 channel 8000 tempest yesterday... Very stable. You can use ir remote, mouse, or keyboard. As per price, they are very inexpensive. I doubt you could build a better machine yourself for the price. I also have 2 - 16 channel 9000 series here which I'm using to replace bad Nuvicos 12 channel 8000 series contains: Semperon motherboard with nvidia video card. cd-r Capture cards are from Hauppauge, but I think are custom made for them. 16 channel 9000 contains: Hugh rack mount case 19" x 21" Intel P4 motherboard Nvidia video card cd-r raid capable Hauppauge cards Remote software is pretty good built-in web server and free remote server dynamic ip Upgrade, boot, shutdown from local or remote excellent motion detection
rory 0 Posted April 28, 2005 if the card is retailing for this, yeah its got to be cheap.. as for the DVR software, whats the name of it? So its runnning on a slow AMD chip? So basically its a cheap PC witha Cheap TV Tuner card ..adn some customized software ..nope I cant beat that price sorry! LOL I can get AMD Semprton machines ready built for $250-300 from tiger direct. Its the P4 and Celleron machines that bring the price up, and a good card. http://shopper.cnet.com/Hauppauge_WinTV_PVR_250MCE_TV_video_radio_input_adapter_PCI/4014-6474_9-30642588.html?rvwtp=4540-6474_9-30642588&ilytg=orderby%3D90%26sort%3D

rss 0 Posted April 28, 2005 we're talking around 1000 for 12 ch, 1500 for 16 ch. Yes I can see slight performance change between amd and P4
rory 0 Posted April 28, 2005 If youre in their area, sure, not bad. Thats like how Eclipse CCTV is to me, they are right in Miami, cheap PC DVRs, dont compare to the quality and features of the iview and others .. but for the price and availability sometimes they are worth it .. at least thats how a colleague of mine feels .. me, if I cant customize the network GUI at least, I dont want it ..
