jbaird 0 Posted April 27, 2010 A GV-1120A will do 80FPS in D1 and 120 FPS in CIF. If I have 8 cameras connected to the system recording in full D1 that would be about 10FPS per camera. What if only 5 of these cameras are actually recording at the moment, and the other ones are idle? Would my per camera FPS increase to 15FPS? Is it variable? Also, can some channels of the GV card be D1 and some be CIF? I'm basically trying to decide what card to buy.. I will have 10 cameras or so, and need my video to be fluent, and not skippy. I was looking at the 16 channel GV-1120A. Thanks, Josh
Guest Posted April 27, 2010 If you want your video to be fluent in D! with 10 camera, buy GV-1480 or better! JD
Harrar 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Are you recording full time or just on motion detect? If motion detect you can proably get away with the 1120 if you set it to smart frames/sec or set the max f/s on motion detect to some appropriate value and mask out any extraneous triggers. If it's full time record go with the 1480 as JoinDVR suggests.
jbaird 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Well, I am thinking of bumping up to the GV-1240 so I get 240FPS of recording. Some of the cameras will be full time recording, and some will be motion detect only -- I'm assuming this is possible?
Harrar 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Each camera can be set up individually for motion, full time or schedule under the system configuration, Camera tab.
jbaird 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Ok.. thanks! Lastly (for now), can someone PM the name of a preferred vendor for Geovision cards in the US? I'm obviously looking for the best prices but an authentic GV card as well. Thanks
Harrar 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Where are you located? North, South, East, West, Central?
jbaird 0 Posted April 28, 2010 I am located in Kentucky.. I have my eye on ApexCCTV currently. A local dealer isn't really that important to me as one that is reputable, knowledgeable and has nice prices of course
jbaird 0 Posted April 28, 2010 Can someone help me understand the video output for GV.. If I want to have two "spot" monitors, showing several cameras at once, can I hook one up via Composite on the GV card it's self, and one from a VGA/DVI/HDMI port from my video card? Is there a difference in what is outputted from the composite output on the GV card and what I can output via my normal video card?
Adam Daley 0 Posted May 2, 2010 Well theres a lot of dealers on here im sure. I'm a dealer, i buy from a local distributor... i don't really wanna tell you "buy from me" as im not setup really for that type of thing, we normally just sell entire DVR's. I can sell you a card however, but your best bet... look online, which im sure you have... obviously... but uhhh not sure about any "dealer locators" they may have or anything... almelst 1 Posted May 8, 2010 About FPS ... If you check Smart option in frames/sec settings for all cameras, all available FPS capacity will be equally shared depending on which cameras are recording at the moment. This option makes round-the-clock recording practically obsolete, and if you have random or low motion traffic in front of the cameras, it's not necessary to buy high FPS card to obtain high FPS recording for each camera. Also, you can set different recording resolution by clicking green "play" button on the right from Recording quality slider. Choose Geo H264 V2 codec, saves hard disk space and speeds up Internet live video.

I think it is just an automatic thing with the combo cards.
