Email alerts gone wild - sending 150/min - eyemax dvr

Recommended Posts

We have an eyemax 9240 and have set up email alerts. After much trial and error the system is now finally sending emails, but over 100 A MINUTE! 1500alerts were sent in less than 10 minutes until the ISP email server blocked the port for 3 hours thinking the spewing emails were spam. Plus the images being sent is always only one particular camera. Other emails contain no images - merely that movement has been detected.

As a test we set the active alert period to be just one minute and limited the alert to one camera. All other input, output, motion and object alerts for the other cameras in the system were not set - just one camera to isolate the event reporting . The results: 150 emails sent in one minute, the camera image sent in all these alerts is from the correct camera, but there is no motion detected and thus not reported. There also were 2 emails reporting motion, but this comes from a different camera aimed at an active street.

To prevent this massive email storm, we have combed through the manual and carefully reviewed the appropriate input/output detection settings, but have yet to find where the alert email frequency can be adjusted. The manual and the user interface leave a lot to be desired as to how to set up the Alert service.

Anyone been through this frustration and found the solution we would be most grateful for the help.
