mmalfett 0 Posted May 18, 2010 I need to quote a job where I will be installing an 8 camera system for a medium sized liquor store in the city. Owner also wants a PC-based POS system. Would you all recommend having both the CCTV software as well as the POS software on the same system? Or should I quote them as separate units?? Is that a Best Practice??? bongofury 0 Posted May 19, 2010 I do POS and cctv all the time, I would definitely keep them separate! Although, I think you should offer the POS transaction integration option.
Soundy 1 Posted May 19, 2010 Agreed, you COULD do them both on one machine, as a cost-saving method, but both are really mission-critical purposes (especially the POS) and should ideally have their own dedicated systems. POS doesn't require a lot of processing though, and any basic new $250 system should suffice. If it's a question of desk space, use a KVM switch so the two can share a single keyboard/monitor/mouse.
