tomdlgns 0 Posted May 21, 2010 i have a disc with 8.32 geo software on it that i got with a DVR card i purchased about 6 months ago. i know it isnt the latest, but 8.32 works with the gv-iview program, which a few managers have on their iphones. we have about 10 DVRs in the field, but only a few have the latest software on them. my question is, how will i know if the DVR cards i have in the system, running older software...some 7.x some 8.0, are compatible with the new software (8.32) that i have? i don't want to take a chance driving to each location, attempting to install 8.32 and then getting a failure message...about not having the proper hardware. thanks. rory 0 Posted May 25, 2010 7.0 I cant speak for, but 8.2 should work on the 8.0 cards. I prefer 8.12 so cant say ive tried to load newer Geo on the older cards, I know cant do it the other way around, load 8.12 on 8.3 cards. Leave the 8.0 software on it but try to just install the 8.2 drivers. Once that works then the software should work. If it fails, could go back and install the 8.0 drivers. tomdlgns 0 Posted May 25, 2010 So as long as the dvr has 8.xx software i can upgrade to the latest version of 8.34 (that i have)? If a system has 7.xx then i cant put 8.xx software on it? Thanks rory.
rory 0 Posted May 25, 2010 Ive put 8.1 on 7.0 hardware in the past, but may depend on the card. For instance, if you use a dongle, then it might not work. Ive never had a Geo card that needed a Dongle, even from my first 6.xx one. But I have heard that some do.

But I have heard that some do. none of these cards have dongles. i suppose it might just have to be trial and error with some systems. no worries really, the DVRs that we need to view from iphones are already programmed, but as an IT admin, i like everything being up to date and consistent across the board. Harrar 0 Posted May 26, 2010 What version cards are you using? Many Geovision Distributor sites have board/software compatability charts on there support pages.

Many Geovision Distributor sites have board/software compatability charts on there support pages. i am not sure, i think this is the information that i am trying to figure out. for example, i was hoping someone would say... if you look at your card and it says xxxx then you can use the 8.xx software. rory 0 Posted May 26, 2010 I think he means the version number printed on the card such as v 3.0 etc.
