IP Camera over existing RG59

Recommended Posts

I've used the Veracity HighWires extensively, and quite frankly, they work GREAT. Since they can be powered with 12VDC or 24VAC, it's a snap to just split the existing power feed at the camera; then all you need to do is make sure the camera itself supports the existing power. No configuration needed, just slap one on each end of the coax, plug'em into the switch and camera, and you're good to go.

I found some more info on the Speco converters: http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodID=1006

Although they do not support running power, which I wont need since i have 18/2 already at each drop, they only support 10BaseT "Exceeds 802.3 10BaseT NEXT specification, isolating the

receiver from the transmission signal"

Do IP cameras need the extra bandwidth with 100BaseT, or is 10BaseT sufficient?
