missmimi 0 Posted May 25, 2010 Hi everyone, Our customer wants to have a DVR at their office and they would like to have another slave monitor at their guard post which is about 50ft away. Can we use an LCD monitor meant for computers as the slave monitor? If yes, what type of cable or other accessories should be used? I heard some people use cat5e cable for slave monitor but what if the customer doesn't haev any computer but only an LCD monitor? Or can we use a TV as slave monitor with RG59 to link to the DVR? Thanks in advance!
Ted 0 Posted May 25, 2010 You can use either a pc-monitor or a TV. If you use a pc-monitor you would need a converter like this: http://www.avermedia.com/averdigi/product/detail.aspx?id=76 If you use a TV you can either use RG59 or TP-cable. If you use a TP you would need a balun like this: http://www.securitycamerasearch.com/surveillance-products/cctv-connectors/bnc-video-baluns-cat-5.html
Soundy 1 Posted May 25, 2010 What DVR is this? Your options will vary depending on the outputs it has available. Most common setup for this would probably be a composite monitor (like a TV) feeding off the DVR's "Spot Monitor" output via RG59.
