madmanzippy 0 Posted May 28, 2010 Hi All, I have just started getting into a bit of security repair/recovery work mainly on pc based systems and have been involved with pc's and slot machines for years and I am enjoying the addition of this line of work. I have acquired one of these units that beeps continuously and has no lights on. From what I read it may be the internal power supply (as well as a few other bits), however I have no reference to what the pinouts of the supply are. Can anybody help? Also if there is anyone based in Auckland NZ (preferably North Shore) that is in this line of work and needs a bit of free labour in return for inparting your knowledge to me would be great. I actually live north but am doing some work in akl currently so don't mind staying down for a bit of extra training. Great site and I look forward to learning and helping. scorpion 0 Posted May 29, 2010 I take it you tested the external power supply with another one? Note: you can go to a computer store and by a universal power supply for laptops and find the tip that matches. I would remove the power to the hard drive first and test it to see if it powers up. These notes are a waste for madmanzippy as he a technician and would know to check all of those. I only put the notes in because others come here from search engines. For the cost of repairing the internal power supply it may not be worth it. You will need to buy 100 power supplys to get the price down to make it worth while. When you can find them do not be surprised if they are in the $100.00 price range. (American)
madmanzippy 0 Posted May 29, 2010 Thanks for the response. Yes they do seem pricey. I have found new avc760's with 250gb hdd for $300 nz. I think I will just pick up one of those and see if I can locate the fault using the new one for comparison, then I have the new one to install at least. It would be good to have any schematics etc though. Ta Nick
scorpion 0 Posted May 29, 2010 I was in the process of hand drawing my own schematic then the economy fell, and had to let people go and got "kicked off my desk" doing "nothing" all day. I will get back to it someday i hope! I did start this for the IDE AVC 760 http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx I got has far as the part's PDFs, and that was as far as I got!
