At first was not happy with low light performance but I started messing around and changed the "Max Fls Set" from 2 up to 10 and it gained a lot of light ...more then my monalisa. Through searching I am assuming "Max Field Set" 1-20fld, 40, 80, 160fld is slowing down my shutter speed (DSS).....is this correct? ALso can anyone tell me what is "Filter Delay" or what it does in the D-N menu? It goes from 0 to 15 seconds. I also turned Backlight on and it helped brighten it up. Turning WDR on or off didn't really matter at night. I'll play with it more during daylight. Thanks for any replies. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rory 0 Posted June 2, 2010 Yeah thats not a low light camera, though it is a True Day Night camera. Yes you are slowing down the video using DSS. 350-500ma is normal with True Day Night Vandal domes (especially older ones like that model), Unlike smaller or cheaper cameras they can have 2 or 3 video boards in addition to its own power board, built in surge protection, etc. IR a camera could be anywhere from 800ma to 2000ma depending on the camera and amount/type of IR and other features. WarrenM 0 Posted June 2, 2010 It actually looks clean and bright at night time with external IR or ambient light but it does have the trade off of a bit of blur on quick moving objects. I'm going to play with it tonight and get a happy medium with light and blur. For what I paid for it I'm happy so far. One question on the 3rd connection plug (Pelco I think) ......If I never have an intention of using it could I cut off the big plug and tape the wires?
