scorpiontheater.com Question regarding rearranging pages

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I am in need of closing down some pages, and rearranging existing pages.

My fear is that it will tear up some bookmarks or it will cause tech and DIY to have to search for items that are displayed on Search Engines, but not shown on the page as the search engine has identified.

I am looking for feedback. Shall I keep the pages the same, and remove the links and make it an email to receive the pdfs.

The alternative is to shut the website down.

What is your feedback?

You could make a custom 404 page and maybe just put a master list of everything there?

Hi scorpion. your info for avtech support on your site is very good and as you can see from the likes of alexa and statbrian you also get a high number of hits. just in the last 3 months your site has gone up 17%. you have put alot of work into your site and you supply even better info than avtech. and at the end of the day you are helping avtech customers and you should be payed by avtech. with that many hits to your site i would look at advertising space (starting with avtech) but dont shut it down.

I have kept the website ad free, and Google Adsense free. The present economy is not going to let that go on for much longer.

My biggest problem is time. Time I do not have. My biggest problem is being up in a hot sweaty attic working for a customer, and getting phone calls for AVTech support. I do not mind helping people. I can answer questions for about 5 minutes, but not more than that. I cannot have a customer whose installation took an hour longer because I was on the phone for an hour.

One of the problems today is the cell phone issues. My customers do not set up cellphone remote view, and I miss out on all of this info. I can only repost what others have found. I would like to get an account with ATT, Verizon, Sprint, RIM, and others. What would the monthly bill be for those cell phone bills??

In the old days when I just "sat" behind a desk I could take calls all day long. I guess some of the other countrys did not realize that I was on Eastern time! LOL!

I have a lot of broken links that need to be cleaned up as companies have changed their websites, and I have not kept up.

The website only has about 75% of the PDFs up. That is a real shame! I need to do a better job! I wish I had the time to sit down with the parts PDFs, and create schematics.

I would love to buy Camtasia and create some "how to" videos.

The website could be much better! I should invest in all of the various fans, hard drives, dual voltage and 19 volt power supplys, internal power supply board, and more. I would like to create a parts cart for the website.

I would like to set up a tech support dept to allow people to ship their DVRs for repairs.

With any changes that I make I wanted have you all on board. I want to make it the best site I can.

Too free me up out of the field I may have to start advertising, and fee based support and hire someone to do the installs in my place.

AVTech has taken down all of the MPEG DVRs off of their site.

http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/cctv.aspx?Type=3&Type2=2

Now it is all H.264.

The demand for information on the older model DVRs is going to increase as these DVRs end up being resold on EBAY, Craigs List, and the Classified Ads. Everyone is going to be looking for manuals and such. Spare parts are going to be needed also.

What do you all think?
