thewireguys 3 Posted May 31, 2010 Need some linux help I have a http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/embedded/ProductDetail.jsp?productLine=1&id=950&tabs=1 that I am trying to run 10.4 on but I am having what I think is a video driver issue. I have the same problem when I try and install 9.10 but 9.04 works fine with the video. This is what the screen looks like when I boot the system up. Can anyone help me out with this one? Thank you very much Uploaded with ImageShack.us
rory 0 Posted May 31, 2010 Ive seen that before .. i just cant remember what i did it was so long ago. I think there is some safe mode in Ubuntu where you can get into change it to a basic driver or something .. I will try it out in Virtual Box. What if you try a different version of Ubuntu, such as the netbook version, or even an older one like the 9.10, thats what Im using, 10.0 didnt work in Virtual Box for me when I tested it, the version right before 10.04 which was beta at the time. 9.10 is what I put on the i-macs and even my Eee PC 700. Video driver was not installed on them by default but it still worked, needed the video driver for the advanced graphics though. You really pushing the limit with the little green computers You should start a specialty shop online and sell them .. with and/or without NVR software .. im sure many would jump at it .. jjsafeware 0 Posted June 2, 2010 Still fumbling with Ubuntu? 10.04 has just given me a black screen during a simple operation. it's not quite stable yet. VIA card uses its own graphic chip, and that could be a headache for a fancy open-source monster like Ubuntu. Mutually, they'll treat each other with lower priority for sure. Personally, I'll go with ATI or NVIDIA when playing with Ubuntu. it could be a time saver.
