rory 0 Posted June 16, 2010 1300 feet is far but doable. You could either use RG6 Coax (NOT CAT TV cable) Copper Solid Center and Copper Outer Braid, RG59 may just push it but cant say for sure. With either one you will get a loss of quality unless you add a Video Amplifier, with RG59 moreso. Another route is to run UTP or Cat5 cable. Although some will say go Passive to Passive, I would recommend Active-Active UTP RX and TX, but you should be able to get away with Active-Passive RX TX. NVT is one manufacturer well known to the industry, kind of expect their products to work as they say, but they are expensive, there are other brands that make similar devices for less. Meanwhile, check out: Eg. Passive Transceiver: (camera end) http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=213a&cid=root http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=213a&cid=root Active Reciever: (DVR end) http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=652r&cid=root they have alot of products including 4-32 channel receivers/transceivers You can also email them for more info on your app. Another thing to consider is using an IP network, if there is some kind of network already existing, or even a WAN, you could look at IP cameras instead - though the cost of those alone or encoders/decoders for non IP cameras can be considerably more in most cases. You will need to check and see what type of cameras you need. And ofcourse there is always the old Fiber
