ABN1C 0 Posted June 17, 2010 I'm currently running a GV650 card on a Dell PC that just uses on board graphics. I was thinking of upgrading to a better Geovision card, but notice that the minimum PC spec seems to require a graphics card. The problem I have is that my PC only has one PCI-E slot so if I was to install a graphics card in that I wouldn't be able to go for any of the Geovision cards that require the PCI-E slot. I'm guessing that would limit my options to the GV800 card as that only requires a PCI slot. I was therefore wondering if running a better spec Geovision card just wouldn't work without a graphics card? If anyone can think of any way round this (other than buying a new motherboard!) that would be a big help.
Soundy 1 Posted June 17, 2010 Unless your onboard graphics chipset is REALLY REALLY lame, it should be just fine. There's nothing heavy-duty about the DVR display; you don't need extreme 3D gaming-type power or anything.
rory 0 Posted June 17, 2010 Basically what Soundy Said. Also just for reference, I did come across 3 Old (maybe 4 years) Optiplex Dells with Geo on it, they had additional graphics cards added, I tried to remove them and use the onboard Intel video but it was a very limited one which did not support direct draw overlay. But typically I just use onboard video and have no issues.
