prairietech 0 Posted July 8, 2010 I have a customer that wants to stream the output of a DVD player from one location to another over IP similar to a Sling Box. However the encoder and decoder will be on a LAN (wired or wireless) and will not be able to authenticate via a server like Sling Box. Needs to have stereo audio that is synced to the video. Anyone have experience in this area?
buellwinkle 0 Posted July 8, 2010 I have Slingbox that I use on my LAN via PowerLine adapaters for video and audio and it works fine so I'm not sure what's different in your requirements. Here's Slingbox competitors which may suit you better - LocationFree Player, a competing product line from Sony HDHomeRun, a competing product line from Silicon HAVA, a competing product line from Monsoon Dreambox, a competing product line from Dream Multimedia DBox2, a competing product
prairietech 0 Posted July 8, 2010 I tried a Sling Box on a LAN and could not get it to work. Even posted on their help forum and no one came to my rescue! If I remember right, it appeared the player was trying to find the encoder but couldn't find it on my LAN (5 port switch without internet access). When the player and encoder were then connected to each other via the built-in switch of my router, they would handshake and all was good. I just thought they needed to authenticate via Sling's server. Is your LAN isolated from the Internet?
