justanotherjoe 0 Posted July 23, 2010 Is there anyway to use existing door alarm switch to trigger an event and still work with the alarm? Seems like if you split the two sensor wires so that they went to the alarm system and the dvt you would excede the input voltage of the sensor and even if you dident execede the voltage would one device take priority and not see the change of state? bpzle 0 Posted July 25, 2010 Sharing contacts between 2 different devices is a bad idea. Either use a relay or use seperate sensors. Another trick I use is to use a relay on the bell (siren) outputs and use this to trigger the DVR. Simple, and you don't need an installers code or have to mess with programmable outputs on the panel. Plus you usually don't have to run wires down down walls or to the panel to get to the bell wire.
