Aftab 0 Posted August 10, 2010 I have to secure an area which has the below specification. Wall1:400 meters Wall2:400 meters Wall3:300 meters Wall4:300 meters The area inside these walls also need to be monitored through IP Cameras. Also I have to make sure that if some intruder jumps into the compound, our control room gets notified. Day & night security is needed. There may be no electricity on the outside of the walls. Weather gets very hot here in summer. Right now it is 48 degree centigrade. Dust storms are common. Electricity fluctuations are also very common (10-20 fluctuations per day). What models of IP Cameras you will recommend? Do they need fiber optic? Should I use existing Ethernet or lay a separate LAN for these IP Cams?
Soundy 1 Posted August 11, 2010 Do you just need to watch for motion within the area, or do you need something more advanced (for example, if someone comes in past a certain line, etc.)? Will this be an outdoor area, where animals (birds, etc.) could trigger motion detection, or indoor? Is this just a basic 300x400 rectangular area? How high are the walls? Is there a particular reason for IP cameras, or would analog work as well? My initial thought, if it's a simple rectangular compound and you're just looking for movement, is that just about any IP cam with built-in motion would do; two of them in two opposing corners with wide-angle (<4mm) lenses would cover pretty much everything. If it needs more advanced analytics, something like Mobotix or others that have built-in analytics would be in order... you could then have it send an email, a text alert, or trigger and alarm output when the required conditions are met. If you're just looking for movement, you don't need insanely high resolution; however, if you need to use analytics to watch for particular movements, then more detail may be needed. Aftab 0 Posted August 11, 2010 Basically it is a living compound with some big warehouses and office buildings. Many people are moving around in day time. In the night, small animals like cats keep moving inside the compound. 2 outsides of the compound are vacant free spaces/lands whereas 2 other sides have roads and occasional traffic keeps moving on the roads. The walls are nearly 2.5 meters high and 1 meter is barbed wire height over walls. The reason for using IP Cameras is that IT Dept is going to implement it:).
