jonathanj5 0 Posted August 16, 2010 Hi everyone, Im totally new to this forum but could really do with some advise on the connections that the cctv system has in my dads pub. The camera input looks just like an input for the old computer modem cable and im aware that this single input carries the video, audio and power. There are no other wires going into the camera. Ive looked and looked but cant seem to find any answers to what this connector is called. Any ideas on what it is called would be apprieciated Jonathan
Soundy 1 Posted August 16, 2010 Generically, it's probably a mini-DIN type connector, probably a five- or six-pin... something like this? What are you trying to determine, other than the connector type? These connectors aren't used on professional systems; they're common to low-grade "package" systems that include monitor, recorder, and cameras with attached wires. Henry-f 0 Posted August 20, 2010 As soundy quite rightly says it will be a budget package system. If it works and you're happy with the results then leave alone. If it doesn't work then pull it out and fit a proper commercial grade CCTV system which can be added to or have components changed as required. Commercial grade doesn't have to mean expensive but the difference in image quality especially on play-back should be chalk and cheese when compared to the old system.
