ayalas 0 Posted August 17, 2010 Dont know if this is the right place to post this and if it aint please admin place it in the right place for me. I have a project in a school where they need about 8 wireless intercoms throw out 8 different rooms. They dont want any wires around the school so thats why they need it to be wireless. I have not ever installed a intercom im into thee cctv side of the business but i will learn how to on this project. What would be the best way to do this the ups and downs. And what to look for and what to avoid. Thanks in advance.
Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 17, 2010 I dont know the range of wireless intercoms, but if their school is built like many around here...cinder block walls...I don't think the signal will go very far!
alanjh1965 0 Posted August 18, 2010 I would stay clear of wirefree, it will only end in tears ! May be they have a telephone system you could upgrade to incorperate Intercom. Are you sure that cables can't be hidden ?
ayalas 0 Posted August 18, 2010 Yes i see your point about the wireless and i would preferr hard wire and yes im sure it can be hidding from sight. But for some reson they dont wand any more cables around the school. How would the telephone system work?
alanjh1965 0 Posted August 18, 2010 There are telephone systems that have an intercom feature built in so you would dial '0' for reception, '001' for Classroom one and so on. These can be on loud speaker or it could just ring the handset so it has top be picked up. I cannot recomend any systems but it may be something to look at if the exsisting telephone wiring infrastructure is in place (assuming it is owned by the school and not the local Telco company). jeromephone 6 Posted August 22, 2010 your phone system should support a door box you would haveto run one pair of wires but then when the button is pushed it rings a preprogrammed extension and or extensions the door box is actually and extension wiht limited capabilities. Another option look into an IP intercom Aiphone has one several others out there that way all you need is a network connection.
