IP camera/software/spec - Whole system setup.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I was hoping someone with experience in this field could help me out.

I'm looking to install around 8 cameras, at my home, which is located by the sea (lots of rain/salty weather).

I'm looking around and cameras types there seem to be plenty around so that shouldn't be hard. But what my main issues were with the software/hardware needed.

I was hoping I could get some help with the following items - please can you let me know if I missed anything important out, as I'm new to this area.

Software features:

All cameras recording at once

Remote viewing over the web

'Detection' flagging (if that even possible?)

Feed reporting (i.e. if a link is down)

Iphone viewer (or is that pushing it?)

Computer Spec:

I'm not sure what would be need to record/view all 8 cameras with no lag/jitter and at high quality.

Cameras:

Coming from the UK I guess our market here is limited in comparison to the USA; but if anyone can recommend a good brand for outdoor usage in salt/rain/cold weather that would be great.

Would need to be work at night at ranges of upto 50meters.

Thanks for your time.

Not really sure about UK market. But try go with Standalone DVR system instead of PC based with DVR board. You will have alot less hassle, plus less cost Most standalone systems are now cheaper than PC + DVR board configurations and have even more features.

Hope this helped.
