Can use UTP wire alloy copper 70/30 with video balun?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I did a design using passive video balun for transmite video analog signal. I found a type of UTP wire that is more cheap, but isnt 100% copper, is 70/30 aluminiun and copper, the wire said is Catergory 5E. My question is if i can use it wire with video balun for video and if the resistance is higher because sometime use the same wire for power supply.

Best Regards

Baluns don't NEED UTP... they'll work with just about any type of wire. I've used them with station wire, speaker wire.... I see no reason they shouldn't work fine with that stuff.
