qman 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Guys, got a Toshiba Satellite, 1415-S105 that has a bios boot password, Any ideas how to defeat it? Does not get's pass the bios and starts asking for it. Right now, I have it unplugged, took off the main battery, and I opened up and disconected what I asume is the CMOS password (little 3.5V watch battery, wrapped in a green plastic). I leave it overnight to see what happens, other than that, I was told to use a "parallel Loopback" connector, anyone knows where to go so that I can go to Radio Sh*t and get the kit and build my own? Thomas 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Depending on your perpsective, it can be alot of fun or a night mare to reset. The Toshiba laptops keep thier CMOS batteries in a nice hiden area. The fastest way to reset any Bios password is to remove the CMOS battery. This will blank the BIOS settings. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

DataAve 0 Posted May 17, 2005 The one and only way to bypass the Power On BIOS password of a Toshiba Notebook. This method works on all models. This is what you need: 1. Your notebook 2. An empty formatted diskette (720 kb or 1,44 mb) 3. A second computer (e.g. a DOS desktop PC) 4. A hex-editor (e.g. Norton DiskEdit or HexWorks) This is what you have to do: 1. Start the desktop PC and start the hex-editor 2. Put the disk in drive A: 3. Change the first five bytes of sector 2 (boot sector is sector 1) to: 4B 45 59 00 00 4. Save it! Now you have a KEYDISK 5. Remove the disk from drive A: 6. Put the disk in the notebook drive 7. Start the notebook in Boot Mode (push the reset button) 8. Press Enter when asked for Password: 9. Marcusl 0 Posted May 17, 2005 I think you may be kinda screwed on this for getting a fix for free if you can't get that floppy trick to work with a usb floppy unit. I think on a newer model, the reset key is just the same as the power key except you just hold it down to do a cold boot. I did find a place that you can buy a USB security key for that model to bypass the power-on password, but it's over 100 with shipping.
