Geovision 1480 gives video with moving horizontal lines

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Hope there is someone out there who can help or give insight to any similar problems they have had.

I have a GV1480 running on a Dell with Quad core . The system has been running fine for 2 years , but over the last few months I have got horizontal lines on all my cameras which severly distors the video image for live and recording. I have installed different windows from xp to windows 7, updated drivers , tried Geovison 8 - 8.3.4 but nothing seems to work I still get same image on all cameras. I have all tested the cameras and they give a perfect image when connected to my monitor. All tested the gv1480 system with a different camera, no change.

Any help guidance would be much appreciated.

Is this a Pc or 1480 card problem, I still need to get hold of another pc to test if it really is the card, To me it seems it is the card if so how to return if past warranty or get it repaired?

Please help

Jason

Does it still do this if you disconnect ALL the cameras except one? How about if you disconnect ALL the installed cameras and just plug in one "test" camera?

If noise is getting on one of the lines, either through EMI or a ground issue, it could affect all the cameras. Ground issues can manifest as interference that gets worse the more cameras you connect, so disconnecting all but one is a good start.

Hi Jasbas!

It may be the problem with your power supply to the camera. Are you using a centralized power supply for all the cameras. Try to change the power supply and see if the problem will be solved.

Hi Jong,

Yes I have tried a different camera seperately with a different power supply which works fine on a monitor, but same problem with the Gv1480 system.

Hi, I have the same problem with my GV-1120 Card. All was fine until last month when I got horizontal lines on all my cameras, severly distoring the video image for live and recording. Did someone find an answer to this problem? Thank you.

6 mths later!

Sounds like a ground loop issue.

A ground loop occurs when there is more than one ground connection path between two pieces of equipment. The duplicate ground paths form the equivalent of a loop antenna which very efficiently picks up interference currents. Lead resistance transforms these currents into voltage fluctuations. As a consequence of ground-loop induced voltages, the ground reference in the system is no longer a stable potential, so signals ride on the noise. The noise becomes part of the program signal.

around the same time the lines started, had you updated geovision software?

could be counterfeit if that sounds familiar.

Geo usually waves a big fat THIS IS COUNTERFEIT alert in your face for counterfeit rather than messing with your feeds. Ground loops are usually the cause of the horizontal lines. Tracking them down is usually a long and tedious task.
