toelke 0 Posted September 11, 2010 I'm planning to buy 3 or 4 VCM-24VF cameras. They'll be outdoors, one very close to the DVR (less than 25 feet), the others much farther away (>150ft cable run) If I use CAT5 and baluns for the cabling, will the baluns and everything fit in the back-box? Or should I buy coax+power cable at the local Frye's electronic store?
jxk716 0 Posted September 11, 2010 You saw this post right? http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22339 I only have experience with the VBMs and, in some locations, had to make the connections with the RG6 and Cat5 inside the dome. I was able to tuck the cables in there nicely. I've got to imagine you will have plenty of room with the VCM. Soundy would know for sure.
bpzle 0 Posted September 11, 2010 Yes, the vcms have enough room for baluns. Don't buy anything at Fry's for CCTV.
Soundy 1 Posted September 11, 2010 They'll fit SMALLER baluns, or baluns with the BNCs on tails. Once where the BNC is part of the balun body will probably be too long. We use these inside them regularly: http://gemelec.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=493&category_id=58&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=
