clozzzer 0 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) My DD53TC16 Spectra III keeps shutting off during the day, but works great at night. I can hear the back box fan even when the camera shutss down. I don't know if the fan on the camera it self is working. THat may be the problem as I am in Arizona, and it is outside, but always out of the sun. I guess this could be a back box problem or a camera problem. This is a used camera that I just purchased, and was told worked fine. Any help would be great!! Thanks, Steve Edited September 19, 2010 by Guest
Soundy 1 Posted September 19, 2010 Is the camera in direct sun? If so, it could well be the heat - try putting up a piece of cardboard or a tarp to shade it, see if that helps.

Soundy 1 Posted September 20, 2010 What does "shutting down" mean, exactly? Does the camera power off? Lose signal, or just go blank/black? Does it come back on by itself at a certain time? Can you correlate it going on and off to any particular event - sunrise/sunset, daytime heating/evening cooling, etc.? Does it always happen at the same time of day? What happens if you cycle power to it while it's "down"?
clozzzer 0 Posted September 20, 2010 WHen I say shutting down, I mean that the back box is still on, as I can hear its fan. it seams to shut down in the day time, like it is over heating, around 10am-11am. It stay off until I remove the ptz and reinstall. Today I noticed that the fan on the ptz is very stiff and hard to turn. If I take the ptz out of the back box, and the reinstall it fires right up, and I can here the ptz fan is very noisy. I just noticed tha tonight. SO it may be that the ptz is getting hot and shuting off. WHen it shuts down the ptz loses all power and video. The drive on the ptz is also disengaged and the back box fan stays on. If it is the fan, can i buy just a fan? Thanks, Steve

Shouldn't be too hard to replace the fan, the hard part will be finding the right one (they're pretty small).
