nwns 0 Posted October 3, 2010 Hello All I have been hunting around for an answer to my problems but I can't find a good answer as yet! I have the following system: 4x Concept Pro Day/Night Cameras 1x pinhole camera (sony CCD) 3x channels Audio (cheap hidden mics) Dell SC440 Server (4GB RAM, Dual Core Xeon 3GHz) Windows XP Pro DVR4000 software and 8 channel PCI card It records ok but the recorded audio is awful (live sound is fine) and the playback software is dire. Finding what I want can take me an age and giving data to the police is difficult because of the proprietary codec. I'd also like to add in an IP ptz cam which is where I need a hybrid system. I've been looking at the Geovision cards for a while and also the AverMedia ones, I think an 8 channel PCI-Express GV800 will do me fine but I'm concerned that I'll regret not going for the GV1120...The AverMedia cards look a lot cheaper, should I be looking at them? Any clues? Thanks

Thanks avermedia gives you a lot more than GV does. when looking for avers you will see old cards ........look for w7 new cards. but if you are looking for only 8 way i would not build. just buy a hybrid
