mal from cessnock 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Hi, newbie here I'm trying to see my cctv cameras remotely. When the fellow set it up I could see my cameras via my pc when visiting friends - then I have to reformat my pc and since then I've been trying to do it myself. I can currently view my cameras from my pc at home using Video Server E on 198.168.1.100 thru port 80 but I want to see them when away, so I just dl pfconfig and am running through the process. I've accessed the modem (a thompson gateway) and am now asked what app are you trying to forward. I look for AVTech DVR but it's not on the list. Should I be selecting POP? Can you help? Zedrick 0 Posted October 12, 2010 If it's on port 80 then it's probably called HTTP, "web" or something like that in your router.
DaveChester 0 Posted October 14, 2010 If this has disappeared after formatting your pc I would suggest your router is still set up fine and it is your PC which needs tweaking. If you are trying to access a 192.X.X.X address remotely it wont work. You need to go to www.whatsmyip.org (from home!!) which will give you your external address. Try substituting this address for the 192 address in your post. This address may change regularly, if it does come back and we can tell you how to set up a name to point to instead of the IP address. Hope it works for you.
