Trouble getting footage off our DVR - Gadspot GS1889 9 port

Recommended Posts

we have had this DVR for a few years now, its firmware is out of date which might explain the weird issue we are having with it,

namely we have no way to get footage off it - or at least the footage we need/want

We need to give over video footage to the Police after a break-in but as yet have not managed to do so

The DVR has an RJ45 port which allows remote and internet viewing of the device via PC Viewr D6, however this route does not appear to allow us any interaction with the Device, no replaying of recorded footage etc

We have a USB port which will allow us to save footage to a USB data key - but it wont recognise a 4gb stick only a 1gb(maybe 2gb but i dont have a 2gb) however there is a problem - if we select say a 5 min segment - we get 5 minutes but from a seemingly random day. I originally tried this 2 weeks ago - we want footage from the 23/09/2010 but each time it gave us footage from 02/08/2010 - i assumed this was footage as far back as the device goes, however on trying it today and requesting footage from the 23/09/2010 it gave me footage from 27/09/2010

The last option as suggested by the manual is to connect to the device with a USB to USB cable directly into a PC or Laptop, however my Laptop doesn't recognise the DVR so again we get nowhere in trying to access the HDD function in PC Viewr D6

any suggestions, greatly appreciated,

I have a newer firmware for the device so will try this but am slightly concerned about the data on the drive and whether it will be wiped...

Sounds odd.

Try rebooting. And Try doing a factory default reset of the DVR to see if that helps. Make sure the factory reset doesnt erase your hard-drive, pretty sure it wont but you'll want to make sure.
