cctv_down_under 0 Posted October 18, 2010 Thank you - but that seems an old list...no 3 series Axis domes and no Sanyo either
rory 0 Posted October 18, 2010 I edited it updated to 8.3.4, only from 227 to 244 devices though.
ruairi 0 Posted October 18, 2010 v8.4 will support Onvif, so many more cameras will come into the fold. Due next week. Also, Geovision are dropping the requirement for a dongle if you use their cameras. That will make an all Geovision IP solution very competitive.
rory 0 Posted October 18, 2010 Yeah well if they want to compete they need to speed up their software, its like they developed it on a super computer ... exaq software is working on slow computers with atom cpus, something geo would have great difficulty doing as it currently is. Also far as I know they never needed a dongle for their cameras?
RichTJ99 0 Posted May 6, 2011 I am thinking of buying a cheap PTZ IP cam to play around with. I thought Geo allowed 8 non-geo ip devices for free but you need a usb dongle. My distributor told me I need to buy a license to use it. I have a 1480 card with 8.4 & a Geo IP cam (which I think gives me more licenses also). Does anyone know the real story? rory 0 Posted May 6, 2011 You get free 32 camera NVR or Hybrid but only for their cameras. If you check the About or Version on the Geo's menu should see it saying 32 channel NVR or IP Cameras. I havent tried but I guess when trying to add anything but Geo it would need the dongle. IF you install the software only as NVR then it keeps popping up when loading about search for IP cams then crashes. I cant even use 8.4 with a 3 ghz Core 2 Duo by the way, 80-90% CPU usage, thing needs a super computer.
