aroonkl 0 Posted November 23, 2010 Anyone could give suggestion on this: Price wise and overall operation? 1.Exacq VMS software running on Dell server 3TB. 2. or Exacq 2U rackmount IP server 3TB. I have 1 Arecont AV80365, 13 Axis cameras and 2 POS terminal. How many chanels or license does Exacq count Arecont AV80365? Thank you very much.
imaginationconcepts 0 Posted November 23, 2010 I would go with the dell. The only reason I would go with the exacq version is if you are not comfortable setting up your own. Exacq charges way too much for their version with upgraded drives. You can get a dell thats twice what theirs is for cheaper. PM me if you need any help designing the system. I just got through doing 33 axis megapixel cameras on a dell rackmount server with 10tb storage.
thewireguys 3 Posted November 23, 2010 Yes Exacq servers are not cheap put you get a full 3 year warranty on the full solution unlike a dell solution that the warranty only covers the server.
aroonkl 0 Posted November 23, 2010 I found a new Exacq R2 3000 around 3k. Does it charge again on each IP camera connect? Dell 3TB server should be around 2K + VMS software. How much Exacq charge for VMS at 16 cameras and 2 POS.
imaginationconcepts 0 Posted November 23, 2010 A $800 dell desktop could run this stuff. As long as it has a gigabit nic and sataII interface your good to go. I like exacq but what does having a warranty on a computer do when you gotta send it back to them to get it repaired. Your going to do the same thing with the dell. Id rather save the money and be able to go to the store and purchase another one instantly without having to wait. setup is easy by just loading the config file. cglaeser 0 Posted November 23, 2010 I've purchased large numbers of Dells for many years, but I recently purchased an HP Z200 i5 to run Exacq VMS and I am extremely pleased with the results. It's a very quiet machine, and installing a new 2TB drive was completed in a couple minutes. I downloaded Ubuntu 10.4, which was also extremely easy to install. I've been running Exacq on this Ubuntu system for several weeks now, and it's been very solid. Last night I upgraded to Exacq 4.4. Best, Christopher
