How to find the cameras sweet spot.

Recommended Posts

Hi Group. I'm very new to CCTV. I'm installing a 16 cameras system around my farm and at this time I have 8 cameras installer. The cameras I selected seem nice enough (1/3, 550tvl). And for the most part my live picture is good but it is not as nice as I think it could be. The one thing I would like to ask about is if you look close to the picture it looks as if the picture is moving or sparkling for lace of a better description.

Looks like less-than-good DVR recording to me.

I bet if you plugged the camera right into the composite input on a TV it would look so many times better.

Like I said before, this is typical of CIF recording. Please record in D1 at 7fps and you should see an improvement on your recorded video's. Or is that a live snapshot?

It looks much better at home on my monitor. I was just concerned about the hash mark lines by the truck window and on the roof line of the building.

No that's a frame from the recording. But the hash lines I'm asking about happen on the live shot as well.

How much do you have to spend to get a DVR that can do D1@30fps on all 16 channels?

A friend of mine has one from Ebay. Search for (16 CHANNEL ULTIMATE SERIES H.264 REALTIME SECURITY DVR). Nice unit for around $1700. But 7fps at D1 will be sufficient most of the time.

Is your live view at home (not on outside network) showing the hash marks too?
