robinsonjas 0 Posted December 4, 2010 Trying to build my first PC-DVR, I have a Dell Optiplex 210L w/ P4CPU and 2G RAM; WinXP Pro SP3. I have a GV-600(S) v3.21 (used-verified) and Geo 8.3 install CD. Drivers install ok, I see 2 devices listed in Dev Mgr...but I get the 'Cant find keypro' error when trying to start the software. I opened a ticket w/ support, they say maybe the chip on the board...I've Googled a lot and end up here for most good hits. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate. I've tried swapping PCI slots, uninstalling/removing oem*.inf/pnf files, etc - no joy. Thanks in advance.
Todd 0 Posted December 4, 2010 Do you have a supplemental power (molex) plug connected to it?
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 4, 2010 No, there is no molex port on the card that I see
Harrar 0 Posted December 4, 2010 Do you know what chipset your Dell's motherboard uses? Quote from Geovision "GV-600 is currently not compatible with VIA series and ATI series chipset motherboards"
Harrar 0 Posted December 4, 2010 Drivers install ok, I see 2 devices listed in Dev Mgr...but I get the 'Cant find keypro' error when trying to start the software. Also make sure you don't have ANY uninstalled or incomplete/unidentified drivers under device manager. Since GeoVision software displays and records both video and audio (even if you're not recording audio) it has to have a working video and audio device in the system. rory 0 Posted December 4, 2010 what version geo came with the card originally? chipset is intel on that dell.
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 5, 2010 Chipset is Intel, ...Optiplex 210L I have 2 devices; 1 audio; 1 video capture Not sure what v geo it shipped with; i got 8.3 with it. eBay seller claims it worked on Win7 32bit
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 5, 2010 From what I have been told there should be at least 8 devices show up in Dev Mgr when all drivers are installed correctly. I never get prompted for more than 2. I click 'cancel' so WinXP doesn't load incorrect drivers; then I use the DrivInst from Geo CD. Then I get the 2 Devices I have: GV600(S) Audio, GV600(S) Video Capture
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 5, 2010 Loaded fresh XP Pro SP2 (no updates) and bare driver installs. Disabled onboard audio. I still see only 2 GV600 devices in Dev Mgr, still get Cant find Keypro error
rory 0 Posted December 5, 2010 Ive seen that with 2 things, an unsupported chipset and a Cloned Card with hacked drivers. Are you certain this card is legit? it should look something like this: Could also just be a bad motherboard or some limitation in the bios. If any Geo card is going to stand the chance of running on different chipsets it is the 600.
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 6, 2010 It looks legit, I started a trouble ticket w/ Geo using SN on card...so far they haven't said anything. I tried the card in 3 PCs (all Dells) and no luck in any. I have a linux PC I haven't cannibalized yet...that's my next step though. Wipe/reload w/ XP.
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) Here are photos of the card, Geo says maybe bad IC? They did verify that only 2 drivers are supposed to be there for this card. Thanks Edited December 9, 2010 by Guest
Adam Daley 0 Posted December 9, 2010 By the looks of it that looks like an older card... the newer cards are blue. But what gives it away is that AUDIO V3 sticker on the back. Chances are you can't run the newer 8.x software on that. 7.x requries a USB dongle. Lets try this... get a hold of version 6.x if you need it email me i'll throw it up on my FTP i think i have a copy buried somewhere. But 6.x doesnt require a dongle and if that works, then we can pretty much guess its an older card. Also, hide your serial # in future posts.
rory 0 Posted December 9, 2010 version 7 that I have never required a dongle either. I have that here also if he wants to try it.
robinsonjas 0 Posted December 9, 2010 Its legit; Geo got back w/ me today...they posted an incorrect D/L link though I wanted v7, they posted 8.4. Rory, Can you pm me the d/l link for 7 so I can try it...also, will that version work w/ the iPhone app for remote view, etc? Thanks

Adam Daley 0 Posted December 9, 2010 You are correct sir. You need 8.xx to get iPhone support, i forgot which 8.x version though 8.2 maybe?
